Shahbaz stripped of titles

The Indian Billiards and Snooker Federation has stripped Shahbaz Adil Khan of two of his underage titles after it was found that he was overage.

Shahbaz had recently won both the Snooker and Billiards National Titles at Junior (Under-21 ) Level but it was later found out that he was ineligible according to IBSF rules.

Murphy shines on opening night

Shaun Murphy stole the show last night in Southampton as the PartyCasino.com Premier League came back onto our screens.

Murphy defeated Ding Junhui 5-1 in superb fashion knocking in two centuries , a 124 and 109 to take home an extra £2,000 on top of the £1,000 a frame win he was also due.

Although the pro season started earlier than ever this year back in June this event brought us the first televised snooker of the new season and it was a welcome sight.

Murphy was in impressive form which is probably down to the extra match practice that the new PTC gives the players.

O'Sullivan withdraws from China - Or Did He?

On Thursday World Snooker reported that Ronnie O'Sullivan would not be competing in the Shanghai Masters next week however a few hours later the story was taken down from their home page.

This comes after Ronnie withdrew from the Paul Hunter Classic last week with a back problem but fans are now left confused at whether Ronnie will be on the plane or not.

Sullivan's opponent next week would have been the winner of Jamie Burnett and Tian Pengfei but now the winner will go straight into the Last 16. Read more...

 

Judd takes Paul Hunter Classic

Judd Trump captured the first EPTC of the season with a 4-3 victory over Anthony Hamilton in the Paul Hunter Classic in Fuerth, Germany at the weekend.

The youngster picked up the €10,000 first prize and 2,000 ranking points after a long weekend's play where he notched up wins over the likes of Michael Judge, Peter Ebdon and Shaun Murphy along the way.

Judd started the event in great for scoring heavily in all his matches including two great wins over Judge and Ebdon and then defeated Welsh pro Andrew Pagett 4-0 with breaks of 90, 72 and 99.

Russell completes World Title double

Mike Russell completed the double on Saturday in Pune India when he picked up the IBSF World Billiards Championship title in the Timed Format beating Peter Gilchrist 4120-784 .

Russell also delighted the watching spectators by compiling a superb 1137 break in a 67 minute long break to put him in a small band of players to make a 1000+ break in IBSF events.
