Mark Selby produced one of the greatest comebacks in snooker history against probably the best player ever late on Sunday night to clinch the 2010 Pokerstars.com Masters.
The now two time Masters champion produced some superb snooker to come back from 9-6 behind to stun the snooker world and indeed O'Sullivan.
The final was one of the highest quality right from the first session as O'Sullivan took a 3-1 advantage into the break thanks to runs of 56, 86 and 122. He continued that form in the next frame after the interval with a superb 101 but Selby then fired back with breaks of 83, 112 to keep within sight of the rocket.
The evening session saw the first two frames shared but a break of 139 and then 49 helped Selby get back to 7-6 before Ronnie opened up his lead with runs of 89 and 91 to lead 9-6. That's however when things started to get interesting and the Wembley crowd were witness to this superb comeback.
Selby took the next with a 62 break before compiling one of the best century breaks ever seen, a superb 109 break out of nothing. Selby took the next on the black and breaks of 27 and 37 were good enough to take the final frame after some intense drama in between.
Selby has now lifted the Masters Trophy twice in three appearances and has only lost one match in those three years at the Masters which is quite a feat for anyone and especially against O'Sullivan on two occasions.
However snooker was the real winner this week as we were shown how the game should be played with some of the best matches that have been seen in a long time culminating in a superb final frame final. The players have also stepped up to the mark as Barry Hearn challenged them to start entertaining the fans and it is sure to be interesting times ahead for a sport that needed a night like this to give it a kick start again.
