Sweden's junior team attended the Ivy Rooms Academy in Ireland last week for a one week training camp with Irish National Coach PJ Nolan and it was Suliman K Salam who rounded it off in style with a win. The youngster was part of a four player contingent who were put though thier paces all week in an intensive training program and it seemed to pay off as Suliman came though an impressive field of Ireland's top juniors to take the Ivy Rooms International Open.
On the way to the final he defeated several of Ireland's top juniors including the Irish Under-16 No.1 David Cassidy before beating his own team mate Bairaq Al Urfy in the quarter finals. The semi saw him defeat Carlow's Karl Fitzpatrick before seeing off Irish Under-4 No.1 Josh Boileau in the final. His teammate Bairaq however did take home the high break prize for his effort of 58 earlier in the event.
Boileau, despite losing in the final will be looking forward to this coming week as he represents Ireland in the Junior Pot Black event at the Crucible on Wednesday. The youngster from Kildare is one of the most promising kids playing the game in Ireland at present and has made huge strides in his game over the past 12 months, now being able to mix it at senior level.
Boileau will be hoping that he can bring home the cup that Ireland's Jason Devaney captured in the Crucible last year when he beat Dwyane Jones in the final. National Coach PJ Nolan will travel with Boileau to the event and is very confident that the youngster will do Ireland proud but with only one frame it will be a mixture of ability, nerve and luck against a high quality field his year.
