India's Shahbaz Khan pulled off a superb 4-3 win over China's Cao Yupeng today in the quarter finals of the 2009 Asian Under-21 Championships in Pune.
The youngster will now face Thialand's Noppom Saegkham in tomorrow's semi final as he aims to reach the final and compete for the title and WSA Main Tour nomination.
The other quarter finals saw No.1 seed Anda Zhang overcome Thailand's Yuttapop Pakpoj 4-3 to reach the semi where he will now face another Thai challenger in Thanawat Thirapong. Thirapong beat Iran's Sohail Vahedi 4-1 in their quarter final but should find Zhang a much harder proposition.
The semi finals will be played tomorrow alongside the semi finals of the Asian Billiards Championships which will see Singnapore's Peter Gilcreest face Vietnam's Nguyen Thanh Long while the other semi finals will see the superb match up of India's Pankaj Advani and Thailand's Praput Chaithanaskun.
