
The Asian Under-21 Championships kicked off on Saturday in Pune, India and on the first day Inda's Pushpinder Singh pulled off a sensational upset beating No.2 seed Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon fromThailand 3-2 in thier opening group stage match of the Rewale Group sponsored Asian Under-21 Championship.
In another interesting match of the day China’s Cao Yupeng was made to go the distance by Mohanna Al Obaidili of Qatar before eventually winning 3-2. The top Chinese seed Li Yuan however had an easy 3-0 victory over local wild card entry Adiitya Deshpande, and Anda Zhang another Chinese cueist got the better of Ali Nasser of Qatar 3-0 also.
The main Indian hope Shahbaz Khan got off to a good start also making short work of his Saudi Arabian opponent Albaqshi Nidhal running out an easy 3-0 winner.
