James Wattana got off to the worst start possible yesterday at the 2009 Asian Championships when he was whitewashed by little known Chinese player Shi Hanqing 4-0 in his opening match.
Wattana, the biggest name taking part in the event is a former winner of two Asian championships, the IBSF world championship and three world professional ranking tournament but was helpless as the promising Chinese player knocked in a superb 138 on the way to notching up his impressive win.
The youngster had already defeated last years quarter finalist Mohammed Sajjad of Pakistan 4-1 in what is a great start to his campain.
In other matches India's duo of Aditya Metha and Manan Chandra both opened up with wins as did other tournament favourties Mohammad Al Joker, Tian Peng Fei and Saleh Mohammed.
